From the Runt to the Rooted

Cedar was born on February 3rd, 2025: a cold day in a place without promises—a high-kill shelter where his mother, Chestnut, was on death row.

Her litter bought her time. They were called the nut litter, each pup a seed of hope.

Cedar was the smallest, with a winged mark on his brow like a shield. His brothers and sisters found homes quickly, but Cedar stayed. Not unwanted—just overlooked.

In foster care, he learned patience. He learned that love is not a race. He watched, listened, and grew into his own quiet courage.

Now, at six months old, Cedar is stepping toward a new chapter with Manny. The bond is still forming, but the roots are starting to take.

Cedar may be the runt, but like the tree he’s named for, his strength will be in his years, his shade in his patience, and his beauty in the way he keeps his green—no matter the season.

Woven of Five Threads

Cedar carries the steadfast heart of the American Pit Bull Terrier, a courage that stands quietly beside love,

ready to protect what is dear.

From the American Bully, he inherits a broad, joyful grin,

a body built for play, and a devotion that feels like sunlight on the skin.

The Siberian Husky in him whispers of open horizons—

of windswept paths, and the thrill of a journey not yet taken.

In the Chow Chow’s gift, there is a calm dignity,

the poise of an old soul who sees much and speaks little.

And in the gentle warmth of the Labrador Retriever, he carries the easy joy of friendship, the love of open air and water, and the ability to turn any day into a celebration.

Five strands, woven into one small, living being—

a cedar seed, rooted in the richness of many lands,

growing toward a sky that has no end.
